BMW E30 compteur de vitesse VDO
If your first large gear is black you have a VDO speedometer. The ONLY way to determine the correct tooth count needed for the E3 gear is to remove and count the teeth on your old gear. This is an amber colored gear, larger part will have 48 teeth, remove and count the teeth on the underside.

Gear E1- is the drive gear and has always 12 teeth Gear E2- has always 48 teeth on the outside and 12 teeth on the inside. Gear E3- has always 48 teeth on the outside but the inside gear could have between 12 and 19 teeth. You must count the teeth on the old gear (E3) before you place the order. If you cannot count the teeth on E3 anymore, please count the teeth of the next gear that it meshes with.
